DID YOU KNOW?

The Hmong are an ethnic group living mainly in China, Southeast Asia, and some Western countries. This mug depicts a popular Hmong folktale of Nou Plai and Yer/Tiger and Yer (Nuj Nplhaib thiab Ntxawm). There are variations to this folktale as most Hmong folktales are passed on orally. The folktale tells of Yer, a beautiful girl, who was lovers with Nou Plai. Yer is kidnapped by the Tiger and forced to marry him. In the end, Nou Plai heroically rescues Yer and kills the Tiger.
